Of course if you are a regular cinema visitor, you would have heard all about the "Black Swan", personally I thought it was fantastic, certainly it's one to turn the volume up, and jump into the world of ballet dancing. Here is a very small 47 second clip via You Tube, I was lucky purchase this on Blu ray for a crazy £4.00p at my local blockbuster.
Back on the radio front now, I thought I would mention some of the equipment I currently use for my DX hobby. My main reciever is a Win Radio G33DCC SDR radio, on the antenna front, I now use a Wellbrook FLG100LN-1 Flag thats 4m x 10m at 280 degrees, and also a Wellbrook ALA100M on a rotator. These are both run together into a Quantum Phaser, and to be honest is the reason I get some much TA DX even in the center on the United Kingdom. If it wasn't for the Quantum Phaser, I wouldn't get even a sniff at some DX, this is simply because I am 4 miles from the power house TX at Droitwich, and it slams out 1.4 mega watts over 4 frequecies, I can even see the TX from my QTH!! And if that wasn't enough I also have the local MW BBC TX's to cope with....am I starting to rant!
I also have a Degen DE1103 portable, which get's used on holidays. And currently I don't a proper Band 2 set up, although I have the equipment. Being that we are living in a rented house, and will be for another 2 years, I have decided not to put up my Blake FM8 beam.
Last year, I sold off a shed load of FM Tuners, Sony XDRF1HD,Hitachi FT5500MK2, and plenty more.
After down sizing, I'm left with the Sony XDR-S10HDiP, which I plan to have modifed at some stage (change it to 12volt operation, get a headphone and audio outs fitted), slightly off subject, I found the
XDR-S10HDiP to slightly out perform the XDRF1HD in the RDS department, RDS ID's would be displayed faster, on weaker stations than the XDRF1HD, although radio reception is the same.
Last year I purchase a couple of Blaupunkt Car Radios after good reports on SkywavesFM, these are up with the Sony for DX,so I have kept them.
Which leaves up nicely on to this years lastest thing, the Climax DTV300 USB TV dongle. having heard good reports via John Faulkner Blog, I have ordered one up, you can get them on Amazon for £12.99p plus a bit of P&P, could this end up being the DX bargain of the century? I certainly look forward to posting my views here, and possibly a review in BDXC Communcation.
OK, before I sign off tonight,I will leave you with a track by the Candian Instrutmental Band named "Bela Fleck And The Flecktones", I used to love these during the late 90's, amazing musicanship really, and I dug out there "UFO TOFU" album this afternoon, I'd forgotten, how good they really are...Anyway, the You Tube is taken from a live gig, it's called the "Sinister Minister" from the album there 1st self titled album,"Bela Fleck And The Flecktones, if you want to open up your musical horizons, then look no further.
73's till the next blog
